Crochet Flowers Easel Card

Hi guys
The card that I am showing you today combines two of my hobbies; Crochet and Paper Craft...

This card I have made for a very special friend who loves crafts and is very artistic but due to work pressure is unable to find time to do anything Creative... So made this sentiment especially for her...

I am entering this card for the ICR Dhin Chak Photo Inspiration + Handmade embellishment Challenge

I have made Crochet flowers and used quilled flowers for the centre.

Taking inspiration from the many coloured lights on a string... i have made a crochet Toran and attached it to the Sentiment inside...

and
Prairie Fairy Friday - More than one Fold Card

oh ya... and below is a pic of a tissue paper flower I tried... HAd seen one made by Paru at her place and that was perfect... Mine still requires help... but I'm sure slowly and steadily will reach there...

Guess whom I met yesterday!!!

Sounds like I met (should I say) Shah Rukh Khan??? Any of these celebrities are of least importance to me...

But I met somebody more important to me...

I met a friend I made through ICR and that is Paru Mahtani of Paru's Perception.

She is a really lovely person and asked me if we Mumbai Crafters could meet... I jumped at the thought of it.. We decided to meet at her place as I wanted to see her Crafting side and her tools and everything else I could get my eyes on.... And truly what a feast to the eyes this little meeting was...

She remembered every little question I had asked her and kept showing me how to do things..
Like the Mogra's on her site, she showed me Heat embossing (I was really NIL at that), the dangling cards.... I was so awestruck I just couldn't remember anything that I had asked her previously..

She has an awesome collection of stamps and punches and she actually shared so many simple techniques to help me enhance my work... She guided me as to the things I could buy and the best sites and places for it..

All in all I had a wonderful evening... It actually took me some time to get over it...

There's so much to learn from her... That I will surely be making more plans like this... Hopefully next time we will be able to include more of our Mumbaikar Crafters!!!

P.S. Sorry Khush... I forgot to take pics...

Release of CD !!!

Hiya...

Yesterday was a great day... We celebrated the Feast of Mary Help of Christians at Don Bosco's Matunga, Mumbai and during the Feast Mass was the Release of the Second Volume of the Pray- Sing CD's.

Now u all may be wondering what all this is about...

I am part of the Choir at our Church - Our Lady of the Visitation, Nerul and about 6 years ago we were asked to join in for the Recording of Hymns (Songs sung in church) from the Hymnal Pray-Sing by Tej Prasarini, Don Bosco Communications...

This was part of an effort to help the congregation to learn the hymns correctly and follow according to the Music.

So after auditions we regularly practised and learned new hymns and recorded for the First Volume which was released on 31st January 2010. Our choir sang about 30 hymns for the first part with many solo's too...

Yesterday was the release of the Second and Final Volume and it was really exciting to be part of this Big Project...
So u can have a look at what the CD's Set looks like here http://tejonline.com/catalogue/cat.asp and I will put up pics as soon of the release as soon as I can...

I am really happy... Anthony and me are both part of the Project. This will live with us our entire lifetime...

My First Easel Card :)

This post is exciting for me as the card I made is an Easel Card... Once I made it I sat wondering why I had not tried it till date...

Again this card was made on order for quilled flowers... So here it is

I am entering this Card into the ICR Challenge 3 -

Here is the challenge pad

My inspiration is the bright colours of flowers in Orange, Blue and Pink and the fluttering butterfly... Also used bling for the butterfly body and on the flowers on the inside of the card.

The card can stand either on the Blinged Daisy or on the sentiment also as seen below...

Handmade Embellishment: The quilled flowers are fringed (some with and some without centres). Also for the centre Pink flower used diagonal fringing.

Also made a matching envelope with a bow ( which can be opened).. Sorry the bow got pushed to the side when taking the pic...

I am also entering this card into Kavitha Blogaversary Challenge for a  handmade flower... This challenge includes a tutorial by Anita... I think the flowers she makes are super duper... I just love them...

And finally A Spoon full of Sugar - Things with Wings - Butterfly

So tell me what ya think of this effort I have made...

Look at what came in the mail!!!

A Big Box with all the stuff I ordered from Itsy Bitsy is come... Yeah!!!
It includes Pattern papers, One Butterfly Silhouette Punch, Assorted Ribbons, Pearls... the Cutest of the lot is the set of Butterfly cutouts in four different colours in a four compartment cute little box... Also there are buttons in heart shape and other assorted colours...

In the pic u will also see stuff I ordered from Ujjwal... wood veneer hearts - Studio Calico, Maya Road Alphabet DieCuts and Studio Calico Alphabet Die cut stickers...

And finally some mini flourish Stamps and 3D shimmer from Hobby Ideas...

And here is a pic of the embossed paper (details cant be seen in the pic), embossed stamps and other diecuts ordered from  Kavitha... Most of it got used up before I could even take individual pics because of the exhibition... But then I have ordered again... So....

And here is a lovely card that reached just yesterday from Ujjwal... She is a real sweetheart...Do check out her blog (I'm sure most of u'll must have already done so... but if u haven't sincerely check it out)... Thanks Ujjwal for this really awesome card.. It took me sometime to realize the detailing that went into making it...

Do check out my next post too... Its the first time I tried an Easel Card!!!

Quilled Flowers Birthday Card

I received an order for a Birthday Card and the person wanted quilled flowers...

I tried and put together a combination of Quilled and Punched Flowers...

The Papers are from Handpaper World (Hobby Ideas) and Craft It (Hobby Ideas)...
I loved the Craft It range of Handmade papers... gonna get some more soon...

Sorry forgotten to take a pic of the Sentiment inside... Had given it a distressed look...

Also made an envelope (which is more like a cover - open from the sides) and a Big Bow (my favourite part) to go with it...

I'm sure she liked it because I got an order for another one to be made on the similar lines.... Yeah..

And these are a few envelopes I made for a friend who wanted specifically the Red colour and the Quilled little bouquets.... They did not manage to reach her as my sis in law loved them and just took them to office to show her friends, they loved them and they never came back... So gotta make more now...
Isn't that good????

Sorry for taking the pics after packing... The glaze on the pics is of the plactic covers...

Let me start by saying a Big "THANK YOU" to all of you who made my birthday special with all your lovely wishes.. I was like a kid so excited to see so many birthday wishes at ICR, FB and my mail....

And finally after days of telling my hubby (for all who dont know him he's Anthony) to take pics of these lovely Dp's from Sumithra (http://quillingmadly.blogspot.com/), I have picked up the SLR and done it...
